Rain
Bath Workshop
This workshop is
a two day event (16 CE class room hours) There are no prerequisites for this
class. It is recommended for aroma therapists, massage practitioners and energy workers. Lay
persons may attend to learn this method for home use with family
members. If
local governing agencies require special licensing to administer
essential oils to the human body it is the student’s responsibility
to be prepared before registration.
The use of
essential oils by indigenous peoples is well documented. However
there are few of the traditional application methods that have survived the
generations for use in our modern times. Lucky for us the Assinaboin,
Nez Perce and various factions of the Sioux Nations have preserved
this ancient ceremony. Jenny Ray, an American Shaman, has been
taught this method by her ancestors.
In this workshop
the student learns the background of this ritual and the history of
the herbal energies. Each herb used for creating the essential oils
is fully discussed in spiritual terms as well as scientific. The
instruction manual offers information on where to purchase oils and
how to further develop your work with Essential oils in combination
with the Stone tribe.
The students
will have an opportunity to perform the entire process on one
another and will be prepared to offer this treatment modality to
their clients, family and friends by the conclusion of the class. In
the professional spa setting this is a one hour treatment. Specific
stones are used for various aspects of the therapy and a variety of
temperature ranges are explored.
Rain
Bath Kit
A kit of oils
and stones has been prepared for purchase by the students. Each kit
will offer approximately 12 treatment sessions offering the student
an opportunity to profit quickly from their new knowledge. The
instruction manual is included in the course fees. All items are
pre-ordered and will be shipped to the workshop location prior to
the class date.
During this
class ceremonies will be gifted to all participants. They include
Smudging, establishing an Altar, Prayer Ties and the Rain
Bath Ceremony. Education on the ‘Way of the Hollow Bone’ and
personal development are featured along with the practical
application of stones and essential oils.
The workshop
location needs to be large enough to accommodate one massage table
and product station for every two students. Up to 24 students may
attend. Portions of the workshop are conducted while the students
are seated on the floor in a traditional Native American circle.
Therefore it is suggested that the massage tables be portable and
not set up until the afternoon session.
An evaluation will be offered on each student’s
performance. This course includes demonstrations, lectures, hands on
practice and ceremonial participation.
