COURSE OVERVIEW

Stone Medicine massage courses are all four day workshops developed for the professional massage industry. They are CEU approved for 30 course hours. The focus of these workshops are on the spiritual aspects of hot and cold stone massage with specific instruction on stroke technique and placement of heated and chilled stones for soft tissue manipulation. There are entry level courses that will serve the therapist who is seeking basic education in geo-thermal therapy, with unique strokes and advanced classes for those ready to take a deeper step into wellness methods with the Stone Tribe.

Stone Medicine courses are certified by LaStone Therapy
through a variety of national and international associations.

All Stone Medicine courses are Board Certified through Stone Walkers Association as 'Charter Courses'.  Stone Walkers Association is an international organization certifying geothermal therapist and educators who meet the strictest criteria for professionalism. For more information contact SWA at  www.stonewalkersassociation.com

All workshops include demonstrations, lectures, written materials, manuals and hands on practice sessions. Explanation of geo-thermal therapy and contraindications establish the highest quality professionalism for the massage therapist who wants to offer a unique and highly skilled method of stone massage that is based in tradition and ceremony.

Learning Outcomes

You will spend a large portion of the class time in ceremonies that will help you reach a deeper understanding of your role as a ‘Stone Walker’. Stone Walker is the term used to describe anyone who offers stones to the body. Many such terms are shared in these courses where you will become familiar with the Shaman’s ceremonial methods of relieving stress and enhancing wellness with heated and chilled stones.

Each morning the students sit on the ground (or floor) for ‘Sacred Circle’, developing an ‘Altar’ in the traditions of the Shaman. Ceremonies such as ‘Smudging’, ‘Prayer Ties’, ‘Shamanic Journey’, ‘Calling the Directions’ and ‘Gathering’ will be offered to all who participate in a workshop.

FEES

*  Ceremonies are always free; the class fees are collected only to cover expenses of the presentation and for the educational and certification portions of this workshop!

 PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Because of the spiritual nature of these workshops the gifts of personal development can not be measured. Many students have written to say it was life changing for them to participate in these events. (See Testimonials). Some students have received such enlightenment and personal growth from this work that they have chosen to attend the class on an annual basis despite the costs and lack of receiving additional CEU’s for taking the same course over again.

Each workshop covers the course content but is totally unique because of the different individuals who attend. We become the ceremonies we offer to Creator, we do not ‘do’ ceremonies or go ‘to’ a ceremony, we are ceremony. Students are asked to offer their weaknesses to the Altar and to pick up the ‘Power’ that will allow them to move forward on their journey as a healer.

Instruction on how to work with the various ‘Animal Energies’ that come forward during the ‘Shamanic Journey’ portion of the level one Stone Medicine course help the student to know they have reached a deeper level of understanding about the connection of body, mind and spirit.

LESSONS FROM THE ANCIENTS

In ancient times a method of ‘reading’ the stones known as ‘Sacred Symbols’ was used to enhance a persons experience with the stone treatment process. This method is still in practice in many traditional Shaman rituals. You will learn how to lay the stones in this manner and to help your client ‘read’ them for a deeper understanding of Stone Tribe wisdom.

The level one class is open to lay persons as well as professional body workers because the focus is on spirituality and not anatomy. Lay people who wish to develop a business will need to seek professional education and appropriate licensing from local governmental agencies. However this method of wellness has been used in the home, by family members, for many generations in private homes and my people feel we need to keep it available to all who seek connection with the Stone Tribe.
