Wase

NCBTMB requires us to call this a ‘facial massage’ but it is so much more than that. This treatment is offered Supine with the ‘Cradle Board’ layout under the body and ‘Squash Blossom’ layout wrapping the entire body in warmth and refreshing coolness. You will be stimulating various reflexology points on the face and moving soft tissue in specific strokes with alternating temperatures to offer pain and stress relief to the entire body.

The term Wase (WA-say) is a Lakota word that means ‘Face Paint’. This brings forward many stories and legends from the ancestors that stimulate the practitioner’s creative motions and helps set your intentions. You will learn an amazing stroke created by Petra Englanburg, called ‘Losing the Mind’ to help the client get out of their head and move into their heart space. You will learn the ‘Kachina Head Dress’ layout and how to place the ‘Squash Blossom Necklace’ on the entire body. The results for your client includes healthy lymphatic drainage, relaxing and rejuvenating fascia stimulation and improved skin texture due to exfoliation and circulatory stimulation.

The use of alternating temperatures with this variety of strokes let you play with all your favorite gems and crystals as well as the basalt and marble. Bring every smooth stone you have ever wanted to use (if that is possible!) to this class. You will learn if they are safe to heat or chill, which ones cannot be used with oil or soaked in water and what stones are best for placement only over the draped body. Knowing the science behind various stones will help you understand how to use them in your practice. The science is powerful when spoken in the traditional ways of WASE.
